Code of Conduct

A primary goal of Data Mishaps Night is to be inclusive to the largest number of participants, with the most varied and diverse backgrounds possible, and to foster a positive, constructive environment where we can share and learn from our mistakes. As such, we are committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and religion (or lack thereof).

The following behaviors are expected and requested of all conference community members:

  • Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions.
  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior and speech.
  • Please show respect for speakers who are sharing their personal stories to benefit the community and fellow participants by participating in an authentic and active way. In doing so, you contribute to making the data community a positive and beginner-friendly space.

The organizers of Data Mishaps Night are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including removal from the event. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

To report any issues, and to share any feedback, please contact the organizers of Data Mishaps Night via email at datamishaps@gmail.com.

Parts of this Code of Conduct were drawn from Kim Crayton and R-Ladies Global. Thank you to Kim and R-Ladies for creating and sharing Codes of Conduct for the benefit of their larger communities.
